About This Test
This test detects IgM antibodies against cardiolipin, a type of phospholipid found in cell membranes. The presence of these antibodies may indicate Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) — an autoimmune condition that increases the risk of abnormal blood clotting, stroke, or recurrent miscarriages. Cardiolipin IgM antibodies usually suggest a recent or active immune response, and the test is often used with IgG and IgA to confirm diagnosis and guide treatment.
